Big changes are on the horizon for World of Hyatt. What can fans of this program look forward to? Let's dive into the wishes of the community!

Exciting Changes Ahead

This year, the World of Hyatt program is set to undergo significant transformations. Starting in May, the points required for stays at popular Hyatt hotels will see a substantial increase. TPG has reported that the points redemption system will shift to a five-tier model (Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper, and Top) instead of the current three-tier system.

There are rumors of even more major changes coming our way, following a survey sent to select members of the World of Hyatt program. Although Hyatt hasn’t commented on these developments, we’d like to share what two Hyatt enthusiasts at TPG are eager to see.

More Effective Ways to Earn Points

Earning World of Hyatt points isn’t the easiest task. I hope to see more opportunities to accumulate points, especially with the rising redemption costs. In the past, the collaboration between World of Hyatt and American Airlines allowed customers to earn both AAdvantage and Hyatt points simultaneously. Unfortunately, this option was removed in 2025.

Currently, you can transfer World of Hyatt points through Chase and Bilt, which I find quite convenient. However, the points earned from hotel stays aren’t very substantial. Another good option is to use the Shop Through Chase portal to boost the points in your account.

Expanded Room Upgrade Options

One frustrating aspect of the current World of Hyatt program is the diminishing value of free night awards. Hyatt offers various free night awards, but over time, these rewards have lost value as more hotels have moved up in tier. I wish Hyatt would allow us to “top up” points on these awards to use at higher-end hotels.

This could potentially be a perk for Explorist members or those at higher tiers, or even a Milestone reward.

Wishes for Milestone Rewards

I’d also like to see Hyatt allow the combination of multiple Milestone rewards during a single stay. Currently, members receive Milestone rewards by accumulating a certain number of nights or base points. However, you can’t use multiple rewards on the same trip, such as combining a room upgrade with a free night award.

It would also be fantastic to use room upgrade rewards at more Hyatt properties; there are currently some hotels that do not permit upgrades, which I find quite disappointing.

Exemptions for New High Prices

Lastly, I hope there will be a mechanism to exempt loyal members from the new high pricing set to roll out in the World of Hyatt program. Previously, Hyatt had three pricing tiers: off-peak, standard, and peak. However, starting in May, the pricing structure will expand to five tiers, which could pose challenges for many.

Hopefully, there will be solutions such as Milestone rewards for loyal customers to alleviate this burden on one or two bookings each year, as a gesture of appreciation from Hyatt to its most loyal guests.
