Discover the Thai Airways Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge at Bangkok Airport – the perfect spot to unwind with a variety of amenities. Read on for more!
Introduction to the Thai Airways Business Lounge
During my recent trip to Bangkok, I had the pleasure of visiting the Thai Airways Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge at Bangkok Airport (BKK). Opened at the end of 2019, this lounge is regarded as the flagship lounge of Thai Airways. While there are a few other lounges operated by the airline, I found this one to be the best space they offer.
Convenient Location
The lounge is located at Concourse D on the third floor, very close to gate D4. It connects directly to the Thai Airways Royal Silk Lounge, making it easy to move between the two areas. One unique feature is that the lounge is situated in the center of the terminal, providing great accessibility for travelers.
Operating Hours
The lounge is open from 5 AM to 2 AM the following day, closing for about three hours each night. Unlike other airport lounges that often operate 24/7, this schedule might be a bit inconvenient for some travelers; however, it makes sense since there aren't many early morning flights.
Access Requirements
To enter the lounge, you must be a business class passenger of Thai Airways or any airline within the Star Alliance. Business class passengers are not allowed to bring guests, while Star Alliance Gold members can bring one guest with them.

Layout and Seating
The Thai Airways Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge spans approximately 2,089 square meters, accommodating up to 463 passengers. Despite its size, the lounge can feel a bit crowded due to the high foot traffic. Upon entering, you’ll find the main area to your right, while a smaller section with a bar is situated to the left.
Seating and Amenities
The lounge offers a variety of seating options, featuring purple and pink chairs, along with some communal workspaces equipped with tables for laptops. However, I noticed that some of the power outlets were not functioning, which made charging devices a bit challenging.
Food and Beverages
The dining options at the lounge are quite diverse, offering both Asian and Western dishes. The variety of food stands out compared to many other lounges at the airport. Several food stations are strategically placed to help avoid overcrowding.
Overall Impression
In summary, the Thai Airways Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge is a pleasant space, although it lacks a great view as it primarily faces the interior of the airport. Additionally, there are no dedicated rest areas or entertainment rooms. Wi-Fi is available, but the speed can be quite slow when the lounge is busy.
Conclusion
Despite some imperfections, my experience at the Thai Airways Business Lounge was a delightful part of my journey. If you find yourself flying through Bangkok, it remains a solid choice for relaxation before your flight.
