Embarking on a Journey to Bangkok

During my extended adventure to Bangkok via Paris, I had the pleasure of flying in business class on Air France's Boeing 787-9 from Montreal (YUL) to Paris (CDG). It had been a while since my last flight on Air France's Dreamliner, so I was eager to experience the current level of service.

The aircraft quality was quite good, even though it isn't the newest model since Air France has introduced more modern planes. However, I still appreciated the attention to detail in every service aspect. This journey provided me with a fantastic transatlantic flying experience, complete with delicious food, a wide range of beverages, and very friendly service.

How to Book Your Flight

To book this flight, I used reward points from Air France-KLM's Flying Blue program. I spent 60,000 miles along with approximately $266.47 in taxes and fees for my flight on November 16, flight number AF343, departing at 5:00 PM and arriving in Paris at 5:55 AM the next day.

Flying Blue points are relatively easy to earn thanks to the program's point transfer partners, and I always take advantage of promotional offers to boost my account.

The Airport and Lounge Experience

Before my flight, I enjoyed the Air France lounge at Montreal. Although it was a bit crowded, the lounge was quite nice with a beautiful design, natural lighting, and tasty food and drinks. I boarded the plane from gate 57, and it was timely as business class passengers were invited to board first.

Onboard the Boeing 787

Once on board, I was warmly welcomed by two incredibly friendly flight attendants who guided me to the business class section. On this Dreamliner, Air France features 30 business class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, making it very convenient for movement.

I chose seat 8A, a window seat located at the back of the business class area. This seat is designed in the popular reverse herringbone style but still offers a comfortable sitting experience.

Seat Features

The seat comes with several interesting features, including a side storage compartment that contains a small mirror and a hook for headphones. The 16-inch entertainment screen is touch-controlled, but there’s also a somewhat unnecessary separate remote control.

Additionally, the dining table easily pulls out, and the seat is equipped with AC power outlets and USB-A ports, although there are no USB-C ports or wireless charging options.

In-Flight Entertainment

As for entertainment, Air France provides a 16-inch touchscreen, but unfortunately, it lacks Bluetooth audio. The selection of movies, TV shows, and music is rich and varied, enough to keep me relaxed throughout the long flight.

One of my favorite features is the flight map, which helps track the aircraft's location and journey. Wi-Fi is available for purchase, but I opted for the free messaging package since this was a night flight and I didn’t need to stay connected to the internet.

Business Class Amenities

Upon boarding, I noticed a wealth of amenities already prepared. Blankets, pillows, and a mattress were all provided, with the mattress being a delightful addition that I really enjoyed. This is fantastic for long-haul flights.

There were also slippers to make trips to the restroom easier without walking barefoot. A pair of quality noise-canceling headphones was provided, along with a bottle of Evian water on my seat.

Starting an Exciting Flight

As soon as I settled in, the flight attendants served drinks before departure, allowing me to choose between champagne, orange juice, or water. This always adds a nice touch to the flight, making it more enjoyable and comfortable.

Air France flights consistently leave me feeling relaxed and satisfied, from the service to the amenities. My trip to Paris will open up new opportunities for exploration, and I truly feel excited about it.
