Top Services to Use Your Points and Miles

I often get asked by friends, "Is there a way to book a ticket using my points?" Unfortunately, I have to say no, as I don't have the resources to help everyone plan their trips. However, I do recommend several professional services that can offer better support. Here are some services that I and the TPG team have used in the past.

Cranky Concierge - Premier Travel Planning Service

Cranky Concierge is one of my favorite travel planning services. Founded by Brett Snyder, it originally aimed to help people use points and miles to book their dream trips, but it has since evolved into a full-service travel agency. I've utilized Cranky Concierge numerous times for special trips, including a stay at Six Senses Shaharut in 2022.

They were incredibly helpful in securing the necessary IHG One Rewards points for my stay, even when the hotel claimed the booking wasn't eligible. Additionally, their team excels at finding those elusive business class seats.

The fee for booking a round-trip ticket with points is $275, and if you choose to pay in cash, the cost is more manageable, starting at $95.

Point.me - A Handy Tool for Finding Award Tickets

Point.me is another service that many TPG readers have used. It features an excellent search tool for finding hard-to-get awards, and they also offer a management service. I've used Point.me to discover some fantastic flight options, but I haven't had the chance to try their planning features yet.

Tiffany Funk, co-founder of Point.me, states, "The great thing about our service is our deep expertise. Our team has been in this field for decades, and we have a wealth of customer experience to draw from." If you're a deal hunter, Funk suggests signing up for the company's Premium service, which includes a personalized consultation on points, a 10% discount on management services, and an annual credit of $100.

JetBetter - Professional Booking and Consultation

JetBetter, run by former TPG contributor Juan Ruiz, offers booking and award consultation services. The company helps users book award tickets starting at $150 one-way or $250 round-trip. Even if you don't have points or miles, JetBetter can still assist you in planning your entire trip and booking additional services for cash.

Ruiz notes, "Award space is available—you just need to know where to look." Indeed, JetBetter is excellent at finding and booking high-value award tickets, including luxury options and hard-to-find seats.

Travel on Point(s) - Popular Blog and Facebook Group

Travel on Point(s) is a well-known blog and Facebook group. They also offer a booking service where users can submit their requests through an online form. Prices start at around $100 but can increase quickly. The company advises that you should be prepared to book tickets as soon as you receive booking results, as award space changes continuously.

They also inform users that there will be a non-refundable search fee of $100 or 50% of the total cost, whichever is lower. If Travel on Point(s) cannot find suitable space for a traveler’s request, they will refund the full amount minus the non-refundable search fee.

10xTravel - Efficient Award Ticket Searching

10xTravel helps you find awards, and many readers really enjoy this service. You simply fill out an online form and hit "Submit." The company will get back to you via email. However, they charge a non-refundable search fee of $50, which I find a bit inconvenient.

I prefer to know the total cost upfront before paying this non-refundable fee. If I understand correctly, the cost for a round-trip ticket using points or miles might be $150 plus the $50 booking fee, totaling $200. If I'm not confident in how to redeem rewards, this could be worth trying. However, keep in mind that for a family of four, the costs can add up quickly.

TPG reader Lynn Richter Lott shared that she has used this service and was very satisfied: "I've used 10xTravel twice. Once for a very complex situation."
