Sometimes, all you need is a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to treat yourself to something special. That’s exactly how I felt during my glamping adventure in Saskatchewan. If you’re on the lookout for a unique glamping experience, look no further than Prairie Ridge Resort. Here, you can sleep under the stars in Stargazer tents, relax in geodesic domes by the North Saskatchewan River, or even pitch your own tent.

This resort offers a variety of accommodations, from family-sized domes that can accommodate up to five people to cozy couples' domes (which I opted for). There are also charming cabins for four and both Stargazer and bell tents. Pet lovers will be happy to know that the resort is pet-friendly! For just $30 per pet per stay, you can bring along your furry friend.

The Alluring Location of Prairie Ridge Resort

The location of Prairie Ridge Resort truly sets it apart. Nestled along the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, near the Petrofka Bridge and just 70 km northwest of Saskatoon, there’s so much to explore and enjoy in the area. The accommodations are thoughtfully situated away from the parking area, allowing you to fully embrace the seclusion and immerse yourself in nature.

Depending on your chosen accommodation, you might have access to amenities like carts or golf carts to help transport your belongings. I recommend packing light and walking to make the most of your experience. The farthest location from the parking lot is only about 800 meters away.

Activities at Prairie Ridge Orchard & Resort

First and foremost, make sure to carve out some time to relax at the resort. The main goal of your trip should be to enjoy all the amenities available.

One of my favorite experiences was unwinding in the cylindrical sauna, especially on cooler evenings. If you rise early, you’ll be treated to stunning sunrises over the river.

If you’re staying in a dome, don’t forget to take advantage of the outdoor shower. It feels like a slice of Bali and is absolutely delightful on sunny days. Each accommodation also comes equipped with its own stove, but the communal cooking area by the river is my personal favorite. Alain has crafted a beautiful fire pit from the ends of an old gas tank, creating a stunning piece of art as the wood crackles and burns.

Discovering Culinary Delights Near Prairie Ridge Resort

There are plenty of cooking options at Prairie Ridge. BBQ grills are available for guest use, and you can roast sausages or other treats over the campfire. Each tent or dome is also equipped with a coffee maker, ensuring you’ll never miss your morning cup of joe.

Rivers of Life Cafe, located near the entrance of the resort, serves up homemade Doukhobor bread and crispy paninis. You can sample a variety of salads and enjoy a warm bowl of borscht on chilly days. There are also pastries and ice cream available to take back to your tent for a sweet treat.

Not far away, Bas and Martha Froese-Kooijenga have opened a dairy farm at Sunnyside Creamery, where you can bring your own bottles to fill with fresh milk. Here, you can visit pigs, watch cows, and purchase products made right in Saskatchewan.
