The American Express® Business Gold Card is considered one of the most appealing credit cards for businesses, especially if you're looking to accumulate Amex Membership Rewards points. Recently, there's been an incredibly enticing welcome offer for this card, making it the perfect time to consider applying.

Exciting Welcome Offer

The current welcome program can earn you up to 200,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $15,000 in the first three months. Personally, I value each Amex point at around 1.7 cents, which means that 200,000 points could be worth approximately $3,400.

There are numerous ways to utilize your Amex points, as you can transfer them to various airline and hotel partners. However, it's important to note that not everyone qualifies for this program, so make sure to check your eligibility.

Eligibility Requirements for the Business Gold Card

The American Express Business Gold Card follows Amex's "once in a lifetime" rule, meaning that the welcome offer is not available to those who currently hold this card or have held it in the past, including previous versions. Additionally, be aware of Amex's general regulations.

There are a few things to keep in mind: you can still qualify for rewards if you already have another Amex card, meaning you can apply for this card even if you own another Amex business card or a personal version of it.

While Amex has a maximum limit of five credit cards per person (including both personal and business cards), this card does not count towards that limit, as it is not a traditional credit card.

Annual Fee and Rewards Structure

The American Express Business Gold Card comes with an annual fee of $375. There are many reasons to consider owning this card, with the most significant being its rewards structure. Each billing cycle, the card earns 4x Amex points in the two categories where your business spends the most.

You can choose from a total of six qualifying categories. Note that you will earn 4x points on the first $150,000 spent in these categories each year, after which the rate drops to 1x points.

Qualifying Reward Categories

Notable categories include:

• Advertising expenses with media providers in the U.S.
• Purchases from electronics and software retailers in the U.S.
• Spending at restaurants in the U.S., including delivery and takeout.
• Gas purchases at gas stations.
• Travel expenses, including trains, taxis, rideshare services, ferries, tolls, parking, buses, and subways.
• Monthly wireless phone service expenses from U.S. providers.

Promotions and Additional Benefits

This card also offers several credits to help offset the annual fee. You can receive up to $240 in flexible business credits annually, which is equivalent to $20 per month for qualifying expenses at FedEx, Grubhub, and office supply stores (registration required).

Additionally, you can earn up to $155 in annual Walmart+ credits, with a monthly credit of $12.95 for joining Walmart+, making it incredibly convenient and cost-saving for delivery and shopping.

Overall Assessment

The American Express Business Gold Card currently has an excellent welcome offer of 200,000 Membership Rewards points upon meeting the minimum spending requirement. Although the spending requirement is relatively high, the points you can earn are certainly valuable if you're able to meet it.

The main reason to consider this card, aside from the enticing welcome offer, is that it provides up to 4x points in valuable categories. Plus, it comes with several credits to help minimize the annual fee—what's not to love?
