Setting Off from Saint John
Who doesn’t love the exhilarating feeling of freedom that comes from cruising along winding roads? I had an amazing day riding my motorcycle along the Fundy Parkway, starting from Saint John and soaking in the breathtaking coastal scenery. As soon as I set off from Saint John, the salty sea breeze filled the air, and I was off towards the Bay of Fundy. The road twisted and turned through fields and forests, just like something out of a movie. I highly recommend this journey to any motorcycle enthusiast!
Essential Trip Information
Starting in Saint John, the route takes you along Route 111 to St. Martins and then onto the Fundy Trail Parkway. The entire journey covers about 185 to 200 kilometers, making it a full-day adventure with plenty of time for breaks and sightseeing. Duka Adventures in Saint John offers convenient motorcycle rentals. You can easily book your bike online, pick it up hassle-free, and hit the road. They even let you test ride the bike to ensure you feel comfortable before you set off.
The tourist season runs from May to October, and the entrance fee for motorcycles is 10.87 CAD (starting in 2025). The road is completely paved, traffic is light, and there are plenty of exciting twists and turns to keep your ride interesting.
Scenic Views Along Fundy Parkway
As you travel along the Fundy Parkway, there are countless beautiful spots to pull over and snap some photos. The gently winding road adds an extra thrill to the ride, whether you’re a novice or a seasoned biker. Visiting the Fishing Village of St. Martins
On your journey, don’t forget to stop by the charming fishing village of St. Martins. This quaint village is famous for its red cliffs and sea caves. Riding here feels like stepping into a painting. Before entering the Fundy Parkway, take some time to explore and enjoy a taste of the local seafood.
The Shipyard Café near the harbor is a great spot to grab a coffee and some pastries if you need a light snack. If you’re in the mood for a delicious lunch, Spinney’s Seafood Restaurant is known for having the best lobster roll in the area (according to the locals). They use only fresh lobster and a touch of mayonnaise—simple yet absolutely delicious.
Attractions in St. Martins
St. Martins is renowned for its sea caves formed by some of the highest tides in the world. When the tide goes out, you can walk right up to the caves and see the distinctive sandstone layers. Be sure to check the tide times so you’re not caught off guard!
Don’t miss the two ancient wooden covered bridges, often referred to as the “bridges of nostalgia.” These picturesque spots are perfect for photography, with fishing boats and the harbor as your backdrop.
If you venture a bit further, you’ll find the Quaco Head Lighthouse, a perfect place to stop, listen to the waves crashing, and take in the panoramic views of the southern New Brunswick coastline from above.
