Explore Singapore Airlines' SilverKris Lounge in Taipei, featuring unique dishes and especially the delicious garlic bread.

Overview of SilverKris Lounge

The SilverKris Lounge by Singapore Airlines at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is a fantastic stop for passengers waiting for their flights. One simple reason I love this place is the delicious taste of the garlic bread. Although it’s just a small feature, paired with the diverse culinary options, this lounge is truly worth a visit, especially when you're feeling peckish.

Location and Operating Hours

The SilverKris Lounge is located in Terminal 2 of TPE. After clearing immigration, just head up to the fourth floor. The lounge is open daily from 8:20 AM to 5:45 PM, aligning with the departure times of Singapore Airlines flights from Taipei. If you're flying later in the evening, the lounge may not be operational.

Access to this lounge is limited to passengers traveling in business and first class on Singapore Airlines, as well as Star Alliance Gold members. If you’re a Star Alliance Gold member, you can bring one guest along, provided they are on the same flight.

Amenities and Atmosphere

Upon entering the lounge, you'll find a hallway with plenty of seating leading into the main area, which features both seating and dining spaces. The lounge was quite crowded when I arrived, but it cleared out by the time I left. Notably, there’s a flight information board dedicated to Singapore Airlines flights.

The seating area does seem to lack sufficient power outlets (110 volts), which is a downside for those needing to work or charge their devices.

Culinary Offerings at SilverKris Lounge

The highlight of the lounge is the variety of dishes available. Here are a few items I enjoyed:

  • Herbal Chicken Soup (Bak Kut Teh)
  • Colorful Dessert with Red Beans and Longan
  • Creamy Pumpkin Soup
  • Steamed Vegetables
  • Stir-fried Noodles with Vegetables
  • Sautéed Cabbage with Mushrooms and Tofu
  • Steamed Fish with Ginger
  • Mexican-style Chicken
  • Black Pepper Pork
  • Yogurt
  • Fruits
  • Sandwiches
  • Desserts

I was quite hungry and enjoyed the Mexican-style chicken, which had a slightly sweet Asian twist to it. The garlic bread, however, truly impressed me. The garlic bread here is similar to what’s served on Singapore Airlines flights, and I loved having a toaster available to warm it up. I might have had 1, 2, 3, or even 4 slices, but the taste was definitely worth it.

Drinks and Other Amenities

The drink selection in the lounge is plentiful, featuring a self-serve bar with soft drinks, beer, wine, juices, coffee, and tea. You can also find various refreshments available throughout your stay.

The lounge provides both shower facilities and private bathing areas, which are great for those looking to relax before their flight.

Conclusion

I arrived hungry and left satisfied. Singapore Airlines has done an excellent job of offering a rich menu at the SilverKris Lounge in TPE. While it can get busy during peak hours before flights depart, there is still enough seating available. Although EVA lounges are also quite good, this is my favorite lounge in the Star Alliance network at Taipei Airport.

Anyone planning to fly from Taipei should consider visiting this lounge to enjoy the unique dishes and pleasant atmosphere it offers.
