As you approach, the vintage sign immediately captures your attention, reminiscent of traditional dishes. More than just a food stall, it has become a cherished part of Singapore's culinary culture, offering unique Teochew prawn fritters.

Atmosphere and Service

The stall stands out with its traditional Chinese sign, affirming its official status and warning others against imitating its brand. Ingredients are neatly arranged, allowing customers to easily pick their choices using the tongs provided, similar to yong tau foo stalls. Prices are clearly displayed, ensuring convenience and transparency when ordering.

Unique Menu

Interestingly, the stall does not serve noodles, like fried bee hoon which many other places do, which might disappoint some patrons. However, this is a boon for those looking to reduce their carbohydrate intake. A platter for three people (including my parents) costs 21.40 SGD.

Culinary Experience

The water chestnut cakes have an appealing orange hue, with golden-brown edges from the frying process, offering a crispy exterior and a soft interior that blends egg, flour, and pork fat. Notably, the octopus dish was a delightful surprise for me, with its reddish-orange color reminiscent of char siew, evoking fond memories for my mother. When she took a bite, her satisfied expression showed that this dish did not disappoint.

The tofu-stuffed prawn fritters were also a highlight. The crispy shell gave way to the soft filling of tofu, and when dipped in the chili sauce, the dish became even more exciting with its tangy and spicy flavors. The chili sauce here seems magical, with crushed peanuts sprinkled on top, making every bite even more enticing.

Other Must-Try Dishes

The Ngoh Hiang at this stall is not your typical meat and water chestnut mix. Instead, they are made from mashed taro, providing a unique taste with a blend of spices like pepper and star anise. As for the pork sausage, it is a must-try: each bite is rich and flavorful.
