The Marriott Champs-Élysées is not just a luxurious stopover but also a fascinating tale of fashion history. Explore the blend of past and present at this iconic location.
A Journey to Paris
The trip from Charles de Gaulle Airport to central Paris was quicker than I had anticipated. I took advantage of the time to admire the French street signs from the window. As the car turned onto the famous Champs-Élysées, I felt as if I had stepped into one of the most recognizable streets in the world. The lush green foliage of spring lining the sidewalks and the elegant cafés on either side made the atmosphere more vibrant than ever.
A Visit to the Marriott Champs-Élysées
I arrived at my destination, a stunning limestone façade at 70, Paris Marriott Champs-Élysées. On the surface of the building, you can still see its former name: the Vuitton Building. Opened in 1913, it wasn’t built by Louis Vuitton himself, but by his son, Georges, who transformed the place into a symbol of the family brand.
The hotel retains the classic beauty of Art Nouveau architecture and is now recognized as a historical heritage site. I felt incredibly lucky to be staying here for the next few days.
Luxury and Warmth
Upon entering the lobby, I was struck by the soaring glass ceiling, the natural light flooding the space, and the gleaming marble floors. In no time, the receptionist greeted me with a warm "Bonjour, Madame" and took my luggage to my room. They even helped me jot down some useful French phrases for my trip, showcasing their friendliness in every action.
I was on the fifth floor of the hotel, with an ornate iron balcony that offered a view of the Eiffel Tower and the bustling street below. While it wasn’t a direct view of the tower, I could still see it from the side of my room. As a light sleeper, I appreciated the modern soundproofing of this historic building, which allowed me to sleep soundly.
The Historical Story Behind the Address
The name on the building grabs attention, but few know that this address was once home to the prestigious collections of designer Jenny Sacerdote from 1914 to 1933. Sacerdote, a relatively obscure figure, was one of the leading designers of her time, revolutionizing women's fashion with her famous "gray suit," which became a staple in French women's wardrobes in the 1920s and 1930s.

She gained fame in the U.S. during World War I and was considered a trendsetter in the fashion world. However, after her shop closed due to World War II, her name slowly faded into obscurity.
Exploring Fashion in Paris
Today, the Champs-Élysées is a hub for high-end fashion brands like Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Chanel. The hotel’s prime location makes it convenient not only for shopping but also for visiting iconic landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. Notably, the hotel offers Clefs d'Or concierge service, allowing guests to quickly secure tickets for Paris Fashion Week or exclusive shopping experiences at top boutiques.
If you’re looking for great dining options nearby, there are plenty within a short walking distance. From my experience, Aqua Kyoto serves modern Japanese cuisine with panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower from its rooftop, while Chez André is famous for classic French dishes like frog legs and bouillabaisse.
Culinary Delights at the Hotel
If you prefer not to leave the hotel after a long day of shopping, you can indulge in the culinary offerings at two standout restaurants: Jenny and Cira. The restaurant Jenny, named after designer Jenny Sacerdote, serves seasonal French dishes and cocktails inspired by Parisian culture. Meanwhile, Cira boasts an outdoor space with enticing Mediterranean cuisine.
At Cira, you can enjoy dishes like hummus, smoked eggplant, and grilled mains, providing an unforgettable dining experience. On Thursday evenings, the restaurant features live music, creating a relaxed atmosphere for long summer dinners.
Conclusion
As I returned home from my trip, I realized what made this hotel special — it’s the harmonious blend of fashion history, modern luxury, and the dedicated service of the staff. This created a wonderful experience that I will never forget.
