Ho Bee Roasted Food is one of the most popular BBQ spots in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. But is it really worth the long wait that often greets eager diners?
Introducing Ho Bee Roasted Food
For over 20 years, Ho Bee Roasted Food has been a bustling hub for BBQ lovers in Ang Mo Kio, attracting diners with its long queues. It’s no wonder many wonder if this place truly lives up to its reputation.
The Menu Highlights
The restaurant offers Char Siew and roasted meat rice dishes starting at just 4 SGD (around 68,000 VND). A combo plate of both is available for 4.50 SGD (approximately 76,000 VND). Considering the average meal price of 5 SGD (about 85,000 VND) in Singapore, this is quite a reasonable deal for food lovers.
My dining partner and I opted for a mixed platter of roasted meats (18 SGD, around 305,000 VND), which included Char Siew, roasted pork, duck, and sausage. Each meat was served alongside fresh herbs and homemade achar, balancing the rich flavors and adding an extra zest to the dish.
Distinctive Flavors
When it came to the roasted pork, I was immediately impressed by the crispy skin. Each piece was marinated to perfection, blending sweetness with spices, making it feel like a gourmet experience. Notably, Ho Bee’s chili sauce is a masterful combination of two popular sauces, creating a unique and addictive flavor.
Next up was the roasted duck, featuring a thin, crispy skin and tender meat with no gamey taste. Simple yet perfect, each bite was satisfying. However, the roasted pork ribs didn’t leave as strong an impression due to being a bit dry and tough. Still, the light sweetness from the caramelized sauce was a nice touch.

Overall Impressions
Finally, the grilled sausage was an intriguing addition. While not commonly found in BBQ joints, its sweet flavor and chewy texture reminiscent of Taiwanese sausages brought a refreshing twist to the meal. However, the moderate size of the sausage left me wanting more.
Service Quality
The service at Ho Bee was commendable. We were served a delightful sauce to drizzle over our rice, enhancing the dish’s flavor. Additionally, the restaurant offers a complimentary ABC soup, a light and nutritious dish made from corn, soybeans, and pork bones.
Conclusion
While Ho Bee Roasted Food may not completely dethrone my favorite BBQ spot, it undoubtedly lives up to its reputation and the long lines it attracts. With its fantastic roasted meat flavors and attentive service, I will certainly return to enjoy the roasted meat rice and duck on my next visit.
In summary, if you plan to stop by Ang Mo Kio, don’t miss out on Ho Bee Roasted Food. The premium BBQ experience with a variety of flavors will not disappoint.
