Discovering Casa Tua: A Taste of Italy in the Heart of London

The area around King's Cross in London was once a place many would avoid. However, it has transformed into a vibrant destination over the years. Casa Tua has been a part of this change for a decade, witnessing the evolution of the neighborhood. Just a short walk from the station, stepping into Casa Tua feels like entering a tranquil oasis, far removed from the hustle and bustle outside.

The Unique Charm of Casa Tua

The interior of Casa Tua is simply decorated with warm tones and wooden tables. The restaurant spans two floors, spacious enough to accommodate large groups. What truly sets Casa Tua apart is the warm welcome from its owner, Giuseppe Miggiano, who opened the first branch in Camden in 2013. Hailing from Puglia in Southern Italy, the dishes here reflect his homeland's flavors, using carefully sourced ingredients from Italy.

A Diverse and Intriguing Menu

Open all day, Casa Tua serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The evening menu features appetizers, main courses, and, of course, pizza. True to Italian tradition, many dishes are meant to be shared. We decided to try a bottle of Trebbiano from Puglia, which was reasonably priced and paired beautifully with our meal.

Appetizers Worth Trying

We started with the Casa Tua Burrata (£15.90), a delightful fresh cheese served atop a bed of pumpkin puree, enhanced by a drizzle of black truffle cream. Caramelized onions and amaretto crumble added depth to this unique dish. Next up was the Casa Tua Arancini (£14.90), featuring a crispy exterior that encased Arborio rice, mushrooms, and truffle. The homemade Gorgonzola sauce was the perfect finishing touch for this dish.

Pasta and Pizza - The Soul of Italian Cuisine

No visit to Casa Tua would be complete without trying the Orecchiette Sausage & Cime Di Rapa (£20.90), a signature dish from Puglia. The pasta, shaped like little ears, is perfect for scooping up sausage and a sauce made from broccoli rabe, garlic, and chili. A sprinkle of Parmesan, anchovies, and Tarallo crumbs brings all the flavors together. We also ordered a Rocket Salad (£7.90) to balance our palates.

Irresistible Desserts

Even with full bellies, we couldn’t resist Giuseppe’s Tiramisu (£8.50). The secret lies in the Marsala and Amaretto, from the cocoa dusting on top to the silky mascarpone cream. The rich coffee liqueur layer at the bottom was the perfect finishing touch.

In Conclusion

Casa Tua offers a cozy atmosphere and authentic Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. With just two locations, the quality of service remains high, thanks to the presence of the owner himself. If you find yourself in London and are looking for a quiet space to enjoy genuine Italian food, be sure to visit Casa Tua at King's Cross. Address: 106 Cromer St, London WC1H 8BZ.
