Hotel Du Louvre Paris: A Historic Retreat in the City of Light
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Paris during my journey from Bangkok and chose to stay at Hotel Du Louvre Paris, part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection. The reason I picked this hotel was not only its central location but also its classic charm, which was a refreshing contrast to SAX Paris where I stayed the night before.
This hotel features 164 rooms, including a good number of suites, making it convenient for room upgrades. While it may not be the top choice in Paris, I found it to be an intriguing place to unwind.
Easy Booking with Hyatt Points
I booked my stay at Hotel Du Louvre using World of Hyatt points. This property falls under category 7, and I used 35,000 points for my night’s stay. For me, the value of Hyatt points is around 1.5 cents, which translates to approximately $525. If paying in cash, the average room rate hovers around 600 Euros per night.
If you plan to pay with cash, I recommend using the Hyatt Prive program to enjoy perks like room upgrades and hotel credits.
Unique Location and History
Hotel Du Louvre is ideally situated between the Louvre Museum and the Opéra Garnier, a significant plus for those who love to explore.
As soon as you step into the hotel, you can feel its historical beauty. Built on the orders of Napoleon III in 1855, it was the first “grand” hotel in Paris. Despite going through many ups and downs, the hotel has retained its charm, boasting nearly 140 years of history.

Elegant Atmosphere and Service
From the moment I entered the lobby, I was enveloped in the hotel’s classic ambiance. The lobby features a two-story design with numerous architectural details that reflect its historical significance.
I arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon, and fortunately, my room was ready after about an hour of waiting. I was welcomed and upgraded to a suite, and breakfast was complimentary thanks to my membership status.
Spacious and Comfortable Accommodations
I was assigned room 150, located on the first floor. The path to the room was a bit quirky due to the age of the building, but it was manageable. One of the delightful features was a book exchange corner in the hallway where I could leave or take a book.
My suite was quite spacious, featuring a living area with a sofa and dining table. However, I wasn’t as impressed with the decor as I had hoped, as it seemed a bit dated and didn’t exude the luxury depicted in the website images.
Room Amenities and Personal Experience
Under the wall-mounted TV, there was a shelf with a Nespresso coffee machine and a kettle for tea. The mini-fridge contained just two complimentary bottles of water, and instead of a traditional minibar, the hotel offered a drink menu you could order from, with delivery within 20 minutes.
The bedroom featured a king-size bed, but I found it to be less comfortable than I expected. The mattress was a bit firm, and the pillows weren’t as soft as I would have liked.
Bathroom and Other Amenities
The main bathroom was adjacent to the bedroom, equipped with a single sink and a shower area. The toiletries were from the CODAGE Paris brand, housed in reusable bottles. The toilet was in a separate small room next door.
Final Impressions
Just an hour after checking in, I received a welcome gift that included a bottle of white wine, water, and chocolate. Overall, I quite enjoyed my stay due to the spaciousness and classic vibe of the room, but I hope the hotel will pay more attention to the decor to enhance the quality of service.
Hotel Du Louvre Paris offers a wonderful experience in the heart of Paris, especially if you appreciate historic spaces and friendly service. I would definitely return if given the chance.
