JetBlue has announced its new first-class product, BlueFirst, featuring upgraded seating and services. However, the reduction in economy seat size has raised concerns among travelers.

Introducing JetBlue's BlueFirst

JetBlue has built a reputation for its high-quality Mint business class experience, but this has only been available on select premium routes. Recently, the airline officially announced its new first-class offering, BlueFirst, set to launch later this year. This development is significant for both the airline and its passengers, but it also comes with some disappointing news for many.

Details of BlueFirst Seating

BlueFirst will be installed on all aircraft that do not have Mint class, featuring the MiQ seats by Collins Aerospace. These first-class seats will have a 2-2 configuration with a generous pitch of up to 37 inches and a recline of 5 inches. Passengers will enjoy seats made from Tuft & Needle's T&N Flex foam, designed to provide support and relieve pressure effectively during the flight.

Each seat is equipped with a 13.3-inch entertainment screen with Bluetooth connectivity, USB-A and USB-C ports, as well as AC power outlets. JetBlue continues to offer complimentary Wi-Fi on all flights.

First-Class Services and Amenities

Passengers in BlueFirst can look forward to several amenities, including blankets and overnight flight kits. Notably, with the seat-side ordering feature, travelers can easily request food and beverages, including a “Mixologist Mode” that allows them to mix their own cocktails.

The dining menu is also quite diverse, featuring a bento-inspired layout that includes a main dish, sides, and dessert options such as sweet or savory crepes, peanut noodles with beef or tofu. Additionally, passengers can enjoy specialty drinks, including wines from New York, craft coffee, and premium teas.

Changes in Economy Class

However, to maintain the number of seats on the aircraft without reducing overall capacity, JetBlue will be decreasing the pitch in economy class from 32 inches to 30 inches. This means that passengers will experience a tighter space, which may not sit well with many travelers.

JetBlue's Development Plans

JetBlue plans to start rolling out the BlueFirst product by the end of this year, with flights expected to go on sale this fall. The airline aims to complete the upgrade of all aircraft without Mint class by early 2028. These changes are seen as a necessary step to improve JetBlue's financial situation, though it remains uncertain whether the company can avoid bankruptcy given its substantial debts.

Helpful Information for Vietnamese Travelers

For Vietnamese travelers, JetBlue currently does not offer direct flights from Vietnam to the U.S. However, from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, passengers can connect through major cities like Tokyo or Seoul before arriving in New York or Boston, where JetBlue operates extensively. A U.S. travel visa is essential, so travelers should prepare in advance to avoid any unnecessary hassles.

When traveling to the U.S., it's good to know that meal prices in areas serviced by JetBlue typically range from 200,000 to 500,000 VND, depending on the type of service. Additionally, the local time zone is UTC-5, so be sure to adjust your schedule accordingly.

Conclusion

JetBlue has officially introduced its first-class offering, BlueFirst, promising a premium flying experience. However, the changes in economy class have raised concerns among many passengers. Nevertheless, this new product opens up additional opportunities for those looking to experience premium air travel in a competitive market.
