Nights at SAX Paris
During my journey to Bangkok, I took a few nights to explore the City of Light, Paris. On my first night, I chose SAX Paris, a hotel under the Hilton LXR brand. This hotel opened in mid-2025 and features around 118 rooms, placing it in the luxury and independent category of Hilton's offerings. Noticing that Hilton doesn't have many luxurious options in Paris, I decided to check this place out.
A major plus for the hotel is its friendly and enthusiastic staff. I even enjoyed breakfast at the rooftop restaurant, which offers breathtaking views. However, the overall vibe of SAX Paris felt overly focused on style, neglecting the essence of true luxury.
Booking at SAX Paris
I booked my stay at SAX Paris using a free night from the Hilton Honors program, as my certificate was about to expire. If I had used Hilton Honors points, the room would have cost around 110,000 points for one night, equivalent to about $550. If paying in cash, the rate is approximately 600 Euros per night. For those planning to pay cash, I recommend booking through the Hilton for Luxury program to receive additional perks like room upgrades or hotel credits.
Location and History of SAX Paris
SAX Paris is located in the 7th arrondissement, close to Champ de Mars and with views of the Eiffel Tower. This is a special spot as it’s quite tranquil, unlike many other larger chain hotels. Interestingly, this hotel was initially intended to be a standard Hilton brand, but later opened under a more upscale brand, albeit later than originally planned.
Unique Design, But Not Quite Right
The design of SAX Paris is quite striking, though personally, I wasn't a fan. Upon entering the lobby, I felt like I was in a quirky, average hotel. The tiny lounge area features two reception desks and a few sofas, which could get crowded if there are many guests checking in.

The next section of the lobby is decorated with tiles, flowers, and fake candles, which reminded me of a haunted house or a funeral home. To access the elevator, you have to climb a set of stairs, and the lighting is so dim that it’s almost impossible to see.
Check-In Experience
During check-in, the staff was very friendly, and I was offered a drink of water or coffee to refresh myself. The check-in process was smooth, and thanks to my Diamond status in the Hilton Honors program, I was upgraded to a deluxe room. I was also informed that I would enjoy complimentary breakfast due to my status.
About the Room
My room was on the 6th floor, categorized as a king bed deluxe, with an area of about 26 square meters. As expected, the room was rather small, featuring a very comfortable large bed, but the layout wasn’t really practical. There was a small dining table that could double as a workspace, but it didn’t have enough amenities for a luxurious stay.
The minibar was located near the door, equipped with a Nespresso machine and some beverages for sale. What I didn’t like was that my room didn't have a view of the Eiffel Tower; instead, I could only see the back of another building. Furthermore, there was quite loud music coming from the rooftop restaurant late into the night, so if you have the choice, I would recommend opting for a room on a lower floor.
Amenities in the Bathroom
The bathroom was situated near the entrance, featuring two sinks but hardly any space for toiletries. It also included a standing shower and a separate toilet. The toiletries were packaged in reusable containers and had a pleasant scent.
About an hour after checking in, I received a welcome gift of two madeleines and two bottles of fruit juice. In the evening, the housekeeping service brought me a soft rug by the bed along with some chocolates, which was a nice touch from the hotel.
Overall Impressions
While I don’t want to be overly negative about the accommodations, the design did not quite meet my expectations. Small details like the lighting arrangement, the number of mirrors, and the sink design felt impractical and bothersome. I have nothing against unique and modern spaces, but if they are solely aimed at creating a style without considering convenience, it’s truly a missed opportunity.
