Singapore Airlines is set to enhance its A350 aircraft cabins with new first and business class seats, promising an exceptional flying experience for passengers.

Singapore Airlines Invests in First-Class Experience

In November 2024, Singapore Airlines announced a significant investment aimed at elevating its luxury passenger experience, which includes the introduction of entirely new cabin products and an expansion of its first-class offerings. These upgrades will be implemented across many Airbus A350 aircraft and will also feature on future deliveries of the Boeing 777-9. The new product is expected to debut in November 2026, with operations commencing in the first quarter of 2027.

Details of the A350 Upgrades

Singapore Airlines plans to invest 1.1 billion SGD (approximately 835 million USD) to refurbish the interiors of its entire long-term A350-900 fleet, which consists of 41 aircraft. Notably, this includes seven A350-900ULR (Ultra Long Range) jets that operate some of the longest flights in the world. Only the A350-900s designated for regional flights will not undergo upgrades, as they feature a cabin design similar to the Boeing 787-10.

This project will bring about significant changes to the cabins. First class will be added to the A350-900ULR aircraft, along with a completely new business class product, updates to the premium economy and economy classes, and improved in-flight entertainment systems, including the installation of Starlink Wi-Fi.

Upcoming Changes to Cabin Layout

Current Airbus A350-900s feature 253 seats, including 42 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 187 economy seats. Post-upgrade, the total seating capacity will increase to 258 without changing the number of business and premium economy seats. For the A350-900ULR, seating will reduce from 161 to 132, which includes four new first class seats.

New First-Class and Business Class Products

Singapore Airlines will introduce new first-class and business-class products that are not just temporary solutions but are designed for future premium cabin offerings. These seats will be installed on both the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-9, showcasing a strong commitment to enhancing passenger experience.

The new first-class seats will cater to increasingly discerning travelers, promising a unique flying experience. The cabin is expected to feature a 1-2-1 layout with private suites by the windows.

Details on the New Business Class Seats

While not much detailed information has been released about the new business class product, it is evident that these seats will enhance privacy and offer greater comfort and convenience. Additionally, the cabin may be designed in a staggered layout to optimize space for passengers.

Launch Timeline for Premium Products

Initially, Singapore Airlines planned to roll out the new first-class and business-class seats in the second quarter of 2026. However, this timeline has been delayed, and the new target is to have them operational by the first quarter of 2027, with hopes that some long-term A350s will be upgraded before the improvements to the A350 ULR.

Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers

For Vietnamese travelers, flying with Singapore Airlines is very convenient, with flights available from Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Singapore. The flight duration is about 2-3 hours, with round-trip fares ranging from 3 to 6 million VND, depending on the booking time.

Currently, Singapore does not require a visa for Vietnamese citizens staying for less than 30 days. Travelers are advised to stay updated on health information and entry regulations before booking their tickets.

In summary, Singapore Airlines is pursuing significant innovations in its service with new cabin products, raising high expectations for passengers in the near future.
