This year, I decided to seek out new places to experience a bit of adventure. The unexpected stop that turned into an unforgettable memory was Madagascar. It's wild, unfamiliar, and utterly captivating. If you're someone who enjoys a journey full of challenges, this is the place for you.

Madagascar isn’t for those who prefer a smooth ride. The roads are rugged, and the water supply can be unreliable, but these very elements add to the excitement. Just imagine climbing rocky cliffs, encountering lemurs, and swimming alongside giant turtles. And don’t forget the breathtaking sunsets beside the majestic baobab trees.

An Exciting Group Adventure

I chose not to travel solo but instead joined a tour with Rock My Adventure. It was definitely the right decision to have companions; it helped me avoid many unnecessary hassles. However, not everything went smoothly. We faced some challenges in the capital: affected by instability, we spent days waiting at an airport that was nearly completely shut down. Still, I found this journey to be incredibly worthwhile.

Unforgettable Moments

The highlight of my trip was a three-day boat journey on the Tsiribihina River. It was a wild adventure, far off the beaten path, allowing me to connect closely with rural life in Madagascar. If you’re not a fan of extreme sensations, consider hiking in Grand Tsingy, where the stunning landscapes will make you feel like you’ve just accomplished a great feat.

Impressive Places to Stay

We stayed at some fantastic hotels, including Maison Ylang Dive Center in Nosy Be, which was perfect for the last day of our trip with its clean rooms and hospitable staff. Soleil des Tsingy featured a beautiful infinity pool, ideal after a tiring day of climbing. I can't forget to mention Chez Maggie in Morondava, where we were warmly welcomed with delicious food and comfortable accommodations.

Exploring Crete

After an adventurous trip, I decided to unwind in Crete, a Greek island I had never visited before. After 40 years, I finally had the chance to come here, and I couldn’t believe I had missed it for so long. Crete has everything I had hoped for: stunning beaches, delicious food, and incredibly friendly people.

Chania was the perfect stop for me. I enjoyed every moment here, from walking through the charming alleys to savoring local dishes. The more I explored, the more I wanted to stay longer. I’m definitely coming back to discover even more!
